Summary

What began in the early 1990s as a tongue-in-cheek schlager project among friends in Tübingen has evolved over three decades into a cross-generational cult phenomenon. The documentary follows Dieter Thomas Kuhn & Band on the major open-air stages of Germany in the summer of 2024, while also looking back at a career that was never meant to become one: countless concerts, endless hours on the road, and an audience whose enthusiasm remains undiminished, showing up to the shows with sunflowers and fake chest-hair toupees. At the heart of the film are the longtime friendship between Thomas Kuhn and Philipp Feldtkeller and the chemistry of the eight-member band, which has held on to its distinctive, unconventional spirit over the years.
