Summary
The fifth grader Ottokar cannot refrain from getting involved with everything that happens around him. He keeps advocating justice and stands up for his weaker classmates. Furthermore, he is very helpful. Unfortunately, he does take some liberties with the truth. His fight for the good cause keeps getting him into trouble, since he does not shy away from authorities. He seeks revenge from the teacher Kunz because he is giving undue preference to girls, he comes to blows with classmates such as the two-faced Pillenheini, and – together with his friend Sigi - he helps a drunken elder boy get home, much to the dislike of the boy′s mother. The new teacher Mr. Burschelmann is the first one to support Ottokar, since he realizes that despite his often questionable actions Ottokar is always trying to do good. From now on, he is supposed to play a part in the group council. Ottokar, however, continues to poke his nose into the wrong affairs.
