Summary
Richard Ferner, who was forced to leave his native Tyrol as a teenager because of a theft, returns years later. He runs into his former fiancée, Dorothee Attinger—whom he had left behind without a word back then—and tries to make amends for his mistakes. In doing so, he prevents Dorothee’s son Alfons—who finds himself in a situation similar to Richard’s—from going astray and repeating his mistakes. Out of his old love for Dorothee, he also helps her daughter Maria, who is in love with Michael Reimer, the hotel owner’s son. Despite resistance from Michael’s father, Richard manages to bring the couple together and lead them down the aisle.
