Summary
Just before the Bavarian village Moosdenning is to celebrate the arrival of its new fire engine, farmers Bacherer and Brumbirl both take out a fire insurance on their respective houses. When Bacherer’s farm actually catches fire, a turbulent search for the alleged arsonist begins.
