Tom Sommerlatte, born in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1985. After leaving school he studied acting at the University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig. Since then he has acted in numerous film and television productions and secured his first experiences as a director and writer. His short film "Auf den Hund gekommen" premiered in the short film competition of the Max Ophüls Prize film festival and went on to be screened at other festivals. "Im Sommer wohnt er unten" is his feature film debut.
