Tobias Ineichen was born in Luzern on May 18, 1964. From 1986 until 1990, he studied film at the École Superieure d'Art Visuel in Geneva, and his graduation feature "Le Découpage" was screened at the Locarno Film Festival.

In 2002, he directed his first feature-length TV production "Dilemma". The two leads Eva Scheurer und Sarah Bühlmann were nominated for the Swiss Film Award. Ineichen directed the crime drama "Schneetreiben" (2005) for the popular TV format "Tatort", and his entry garnered nominations at the Bavarian Television Award and the German Cinematography Award. Following the TV feature films "Du gehörst mir" (2006), "Sonjas Rückkehr" (CH, 2006) and "Jimmie" (CH, 2007), Ineichen directed three more "Tatort" entries: "Liebeswirren" (2008) ,"Skalpell" (CH/DE/AT, 2011) and "Väterpflichten" (CH, 2012).

He then wrote and directed his first cinema release: The teen mystery "Clara und das Geheimnis der Bären" premiered at the 2012 LUCAS International Children's Film Festival and was theatrically released in June 2013.
