Born in Oude-Amstel, the Netherlands, in 1970, she worked for public broadcaster VPRO from 1995 and 2000. A documentary filmmaker since 1995, from 1994 to 2002 she was responsible for the Exploding Cinema programme at Rotterdam International Film Festival. In 2000 she co-founded the production company Submarine, which produced Peter Greenaway’s documentary "Rembrant's J'accuse" in 2008.
