Born in Kassel, Germany in 1978 to Iranian parents, she studied communication design in Hanover and Saint Etienne whilst freelancing for German public broadcaster NDR. In 2004 she began a degree at HFF Munich, graduating in 2015. She took film production internships including, in 2011, with ZDF's 'Kleines Fernsehspiel'. Her films "Garçons Manqués" ("Tom Boys") and "Eisblumen" ("Ice Flowers", 2011 Perspektive Deutsches Kino) screened at many international festivals and won several awards. She developed her debut feature "Die defekte Katze" ("A Dysfunctional Cat") at the 2013 Cannes Cinéfondation Résidence. She participated in Berlinale Talents in 2016
