Michael Baumann was born in 1970 in Munich. He studied Educational Science in Munich and Film & Television Direction at the University of Film & Television "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam-Babelsberg. Active as a writer and director, his award-winning films include: "Hingerichtet" (short, 1997), "Kleine Freiheit" (short, 1998), "Weg!" (2002), "Woyzeck" (2009), "Waschen und leben" (doc, 2010), and "Willkommen bei Habib" ("Habib Rhapsody", 2013).
