Tilman König’s artistic tragicomedy THE GREAT COLLAPSE centres on André, a drifter and disillusioned man of the post-reunification era, scraping by on odd jobs in Lindenau. When his teenage daughter comes to stay with him for three weeks, the two struggle to connect. Their uneasy bond takes an unexpected turn when André stumbles into a conspiracy theorists’ conference where the looming spectre of the end of the world offers father and daughter – and perhaps their vanishing neighborhood – a fragile chance at a new beginning.

Shot entirely on location in Leipzig’s Lindenau district, the film captures a neighborhood in transition, marked by decline, displacement, and resilience.
