Bitter Gold
When her father is seriously injured in a violent incident, 16-year-old Carola unexpectedly finds herself thrust into a position of leadership. He runs a small copper mine in Chile's Atacama Desert, and to keep the family business afloat, Carola conceals the true circumstances of the attack and takes charge of the mining operation herself. Facing resistance and skepticism from the male workers, she must prove her capability in a world shaped by harsh conditions, deep-seated mistrust, and unspoken power dynamics. The pressure intensifies when a ruthless competitor begins encroaching on their territory, setting his sights on a nearby site suspected to hold gold. As threats mount and loyalties are tested, Carola must not only hold the operation together but also protect her father's secrets.
