Meier Müller Schmidt

The film portrays several intertwinded stories revolving around Julian Meier, Kasimir Müller and Max Shmidt in a shared flat in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. The doorbell rings: it’s a woman selling packeted soup, the aspiring actress Eva. For Julian, it is love at first sight. She is somewhat hesitant at first, but shortly thereafter she too gives in. On their third date, it transpires that Eva is Julian’s half-sister – and the trick with the packet soup was just a guise to finally meet up with her half-brother. None the less, Eva moves into the flat and they have a great love affair.

Roommate Kasimir falls in love, too: to his great surprise, with a man. But when his lover disappears after their first night, Kasimir is afraid that he’s been infected with HIV. He becomes obsessed with the idea, although there is no concrete evidencean is even too terrified to have himself tested. Julian offers to accompany him, but then Kasimir suddenly disappears without a trace. The third roommate Max is reading the newspaper at the breakfast table. There is a new drug in America: FOG – it destroys the memory and was originally developed for the GIs in the Iraq War. The article also says that the drug is already coursing through Germany’s big cities and there has already been a police raid in a club in Berlin. But in the end, it all turns out to have been a clever marketing strategy.
