Vladimir Vulević was born in 1984 in Priboj – then part of Yugoslavia, today in Serbia. He first studied literature at the University of Belgrade and published two verse dramas, "Remembrance from Formaldehyde" (2010) and "Ananke Ferdidurke" (2012), works that already point to his interest in language, form, and philosophical themes. In 2016, Vulević moved to Germany to study directing at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts (HFBK), where he joined the film class of Angela Schanelec, one of Germany's most distinctive contemporary filmmakers. During his studies, he directed several short films. He completed his degree with the 30-minute feature "Wie ich Kleber und Bronze besiegte" (DE/RS 2020), set in his hometown of Priboj. The film – a symbolically charged search for a seemingly ordinary man who vanishes without a trace – won Best Short Fiction Film at Filmfest Dresden in 2021.
In the years that followed, Vulević worked in Germany and Serbia as an actor, writer, and editor, including a leading role in the award-winning short film "Land der Berge" ("Land of Mountains," AT/DE 2022). His former professor Schanelec later cast him in the male lead of her relationship drama "Meine Frau weint" ("My Wife Cries"), which premiered in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2026.
