Tansu Biçer, born on July 4, 1978, in Ankara, Turkey, studied theatre at the State Conservatory of Anadolu University in Eskişehir. He began his career as a stage actor and in 2002 co-founded the Istanbul-based theatre company Semaver Kumpanya. From 2004 onward, alongside his extensive theatre work, Biçer also appeared in numerous television and film productions. He received multiple awards in Turkey for his role in the drama "Beş Şehir" ("Five Cities," 2009).
In Germany, he has appeared in the widely acclaimed dramas "Schimmel" ("Mold," TR/DE 2012), "Der anatolische Leopard" ("Anatolian Leopard," TR/DE/PL 2021), and "Yurt" (TR/DE/FR 2023). German-Turkish filmmaker İlker Çatak cast Biçer in a leading role in "Gelbe Briefe" ("Yellow Letters," DE/FR/TR 2026), a drama set in Istanbul about an artist couple critical of authority who increasingly become targets of state repression. The film premiered in competition at the 2026 Berlinale and won the Golden Bear, the regular theatrical release followed in early March 2026.
