Biography

Romy Lou Janinhoff, born July 17, 2006, attended the BellAcademia acting school in Cologne with Isabella Schmid from 2015. Under Schmid's direction, she appeared at the Cologne Stage of Cultures in the ensemble of "Der Froschkönig streikt" (2016/17) and at Theater Tiefrot in "Norway Today" (2021), among others. She had a leading role at BellAcademia in the play "Aufzug Chronicles" in 2021.

Janinhoff made her debut in front of the camera in 2018 with a supporting role in the family and society study "Vatersland", which premiered in 2020. Smaller appearances on TV followed in episodes of the series "Betty's Diagnosis" and "Morden im Norden".

Romy Lou Janinhoff played her first leading role in a feature film in "Mission Ulja Funk" (DE/PL/LU 2021), as a headstrong schoolgirl fascinated by astronomy who embarks on an adventurous journey with a schoolmate. The film premiered at the 2021 Berlinale in the Generation Kplus section and won awards at other festivals. Janinhoff received the Children's Media Award 'The White Elephant' for Best Newcomer at the Munich Children's Film Festival. In January 2023, "Mission Ulja Funk" opened in cinemas across Germany.
