Biography

Oliver Dieckmann was born on December 17 1968. After receiving a degree in  economics in Berlin, he studied production and media management at the Hochschule für Film and Fernsehen in Munich. Following his graduation in 2000, he was one of the developers of the Kirch Media website "shorts-welcome", which was nominated for a Girmme-Online-Award.

In 2002, he started working as a dramatic advisor and producer for production company Bavaria. He was involved in the production of the miniseries "Der Wunschbaum" (2003), and co-authored the TV drama "Ein ganz normales Paar" (2005), starring Floriane Daniel and Steffen Wink.

After already directing the internationally acclaimed short "Geliebter Alltag" in 2005. he completed his feature film debut "Pizza und Marmelade" in 2008. The tragicomedy about an architect, who suddenly goes bankrupt and is forced to support  himself by working as a pizza baker, was nominated for the Förderpreis Deutscher Film at the Munich Film Festival. Dieckmann then directed the TV production "Dornröschen" before starting work on his second cinema release: The family comedy "Als der Weihnachtsmann vom Himmel fiel" opened in November 2011.
