His first film, "Der Condor" opened the Turino Film Festival in 1988, "Only You" was shown at Hof in 1992. Since then he has made a name for himself primarily as a director of television crime shows, including episodes of "SOKO 5133" (1994) and the pilot to the series "SK-Babies" (1995).

A year later he directed "Der Neue", the pilot for the crime series "Kommissare Suedwest", for which he also staged the episodes "Der Verdacht" (1997), "Tod im Feuer" (1998) and "Jenny" (1998). In 1997, he directed the "Tatort" episode "Schwarzer Advent", which received the Adolf Grimme Award in 1999. "The Loneliness of the Crocodiles" ("Die Einsamkeit der Krokodile", 2000) was his feature debut.
