Felix Kammerer was born in Vienna on September 19, 1995. His parents are the opera singers Angelika Kirchschlager and Hans Peter Kammerer. He gained acting experience in Maresa Hörbiger's Junge Ensemble Hörbiger (jöh!), of which he was a member from 2013 to 2015. In 2015, he began studying at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst 'Ernst Busch' Berlin, which he graduated from in 2019. During this time, he appeared on stage at the Deutsches Theater Berlin in "Marat/Sade" (2017), directed by Stefan Pucher, among others.
After graduating, Kammerer received an engagement at Berlin's Maxim Gorki Theater in 2019, where he appeared in "Jugend ohne Gott." That same year, he made his debut at the Salzburg Festival in a production of Gorky's "Summer Guests" in the role of the student Simin. A little later, for the 2018/20 season, Martin Kušej hired him for the ensemble of Vienna's Burgtheater. There he made his debut as the Duke of Medina-Sidonia in Schiller's "Don Karlos." At the Vienna Akademietheater, he played in Jelinek's "Schwarzwasser" (2020), Goetz's "Reich des Todes" (2021/2022) and Schnitzler's "Das weite Land" (2022), among others. In addition, Kammerer has been involved in various acting projects and radio plays outside the Burgtheater.
Felix Kammerer made his first appearance as a screen actor at the end of 2021 in a supporting role in the re-enacted scenes of Marie Noëlle's TV documentary "Dürer". Even before it aired, he had been in front of the camera in a leading role in Edward Berger's "Im Westen nichts Neues" ("All Quiet on the Western Front"), a new adaptation of the famous anti-war novel. The Netflix production was released in fall 2022 and was submitted as the German entry for the Oscars 2023. With four of the coveted trophies (for Best international feature, Best cinematography, Best production design and Best music), the film celebrated an outstanding success. At the German Film Awards 2023, Kammerer was nominated Best actor for his performance in the film.
