Biography
Fabiane Kemmann is a director and writer. She studied literature and theatre at the Free University of Berlin and the Maxim Gorky Institute of World Literature in Moscow. Her first short film documents Bertolt Brecht's and Hanns Eisler's "The Decision" at the Berlin Philharmonic (2016), where she staged the piece for the first time since the 1930s annihilation of the workers' singers movement in its original form with 300 singers. Her theatre works include the musical theatre piece "Eisler/Prokoll", performed live simultaneously at partner theatres in Berlin and Moscow (2021) and later at the Berlin Philharmonic (2022). "Syntax in Space" is her debut fictional short film.
She writes and translates poetry, plays and journalistic work and was awarded scholarships by the Academy of Arts Berlin, Literary Colloquium Berlin, German Academic Exchange Service, Senat of Berlin, VG Wort, Deutscher Übersetzerfonds and Heinz and Heide Dürr Foundation.
