Biography

Eibe Maleen Krebs was born in Hamburg in 1982. From 2003 to 2008, she studied communication design with a special focus on photography at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. Her thesis project about German immigrants in Australia led to the publication of a photo book and her first feature-length documentary film "Looking Forward Looking Back" (2008). Following this, she continued working as a photographer and filmmaker. In October 2010, she began studying film at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Her graduation film "Vom Hören Sagen" (2013) focuses on ten congenitally blind people explaining their perception of the world. Since 2012, she has been a curator at the inclusive short film festival Klappe Auf! in Hamburg.

In 2014, Krebs was awarded with the Wim Wenders Grant for the concept of her first fiction feature film: "Draußen in meinem Kopf" about the growing, trusting relationship between a young man doing a voluntary social year and a young man suffering from muscular dystrophy premiered at the Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis in January 2018 and won the Prize of the Youth Jury. In April 2018, "Draußen in meinem Kopf" was released in German cinemas.
