Biography
Antonis Kafetzopoulos was born in Istanbul on October 13th 1951. From 1963 on, he lived in Athens and accidentally came to the stage: In 1974, he helped out in a play and then decided to become an actor. He financed his studies drama school by working as a sound engineer for a record label. Since his official stage debut with the renowned Elly Lambeti Company in 1979, Kafetzopoulos performed in numerous prolific film and television productions, sometimes also trying himself as writer, director and producer. He also continued to be a successful theatre actor. For his portrayal of an Athens shop owner in the comedy "Kleine Wunder in Athen", he was named Best Actor at 2009 Locarno Film Festival.
