Biography

Andrea Katzenberger was born in 1962 in Heidelberg. She studied Germanics and Theater Studies at the Free University in Berlin, Acting at the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar in Vienna, and Film Direction with Hark Bohm at the University of Hamburg. She was engaged by several theaters in Vienna, Frankfurt, Berlin and Hamburg, and in 1988, was one of the founding members of the "Neue Berliner Volksbuehnen". Her graduation film "Anja, Bine und der Totengraeber" (1998) won the ProSieben Newcomer Award in 1998 and First Prize at the Chicago International Children"s Film Festival in 1999. Her other films include: the shorts "Neukoelln: Ein Platz fuer Kinder" (1995), "Stille Wasser" (1995), "Blindman Blues" (1996), "Gleislichter" (1997), and the feature "The Bloody Nuisance" ("Der Mistkerl", 2001).
