Summary
All That's Due
The comedy picks up from the 2009 predecessor "Die Liebe der Kinder" ("Wallace Line"): Mira Yildiz, now in her early thirties, appears to have her life in order. She has a loving partner, two children, and has just been promoted to manager of a supermarket branch. A interest-free start-up loan comes from Robert, her mother's former partner. But that very night, Mira's husband Tarik sinks the money into a crypto fund and loses it all to a scam. Out of shame, Mira keeps the loss to herself, and what begins as a small excuse gradually turns into a web of half-truths and lies. Matters become even more complicated when it emerges that Robert has expectations in return for the loan: to please his devout wife, Mira's children are to be baptized. Caught between conflicting loyalties, Mira finds herself under mounting pressure. Tarik - her Muslim husband and former rapper - must not find out, and her mother Maren is dismissive of Mira's life choices anyway. Eventually, the carefully constructed lie collapses, everything comes to light, and it is only in the ensuing chaos that Mira discovers a new sense of freedom.
