Film synopsis: The life of the bird catchers on the Faroe Islands is hard and arduous. Only the shopkeeper Brause profits from the business - also because he pays his workers little and does not tolerate any absences. When a disease breaks out and Dr. Horn suspects that it is being transmitted by the birds, Brause sees his profit at risk and wants to do everything he can to prevent the islanders from finding out about it.

"Schatten über den Inseln" was digitized by DEFA-Stiftung as part of the film heritage funding program "Förderprogramm Filmerbe" (FFE) in 2019.
