Summary
The art project has failed, her boyfriend has put her out to pasture, her sister is happily engaged, but her parents are newly separated: the start of summer is anything but uplifting for Frances, who lives in New York. Annoyed and slightly panicked, she decides to accept the offer of an art scholarship in Norway. She soon finds herself in the land of fjords on a deserted island, where not only the sun never sets, but where she is also confronted with all kinds of eccentric, idiosyncratic and not always easy islanders.
