Tambari

DDR 1976/1977 Spielfilm

Summary

Circumnavigator and South Seas voyager Luden Dassow returns with his white fishing cutter "Tambari" to his home village Koselin. But the other fishermen welcome him anything but heartily. Only the son of the chairman of the cooperative, Jan Töller, is interested in his exciting and adventurous seafarer stories. After Dassow′s death, the cooperative gets Dassow′s beloved boat but lets it decay. Eventually, Jan takes over the boat and turns it seagoing again with the help of wagoner Kaßbaum and several children. When the fisher men suffer a financial emergency, they want to sell the "Tambari", even if that would violate Dassow′s last wish. In Koselin, a bitter argument flares up between the children on the one side, and the fisher men on the other side. But in the end, they find a solution that leaves everyone satisfied.
