Summary
The documentary provides an insider's look at Robert Habeck's 2025 federal election campaign. Habeck, who served as co-chair of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen alongside Annalena Baerbock from 2018 to 2022 and as Germany's Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action from 2021 to 2025, enters the campaign with high expectations—but over time, the party suffers significant losses, prompting him to step back from politics.
Few German politicians in recent years have been as polarizing: to some, a figure of hope; to others, a projection of their critique of the present. Director Lars Jessen, who has known Habeck personally for years and has advised him, examines the factors behind the campaign's outcome and explores the possibilities for progressive politics in an era of populism. Through conversations with Habeck's political and personal companions, as well as experts in neuroscience, communications, journalism, acting, and culture, the film weaves together personal and political perspectives, illuminating both Habeck's work and society's reactions to his policies.
