Familie Haben

Deutschland 2012-2014 Dokumentarfilm

Summary

Familiar Circles

In his first feature-length film, director and coproducer Jonas Rothlaender’s documentary poses the question, is our fate predestined by our own family? Indeed, are familial conflicts passed down from one generation to another as some kind of unwelcome inheritance? He then tackles the big issue, should this be the case, as to what can be done to break this repeat pattern behavior. One only has to think of America’s famous feuding families, the Hatfields and McCoys,to see where this can lead, and that is to say nothing of the generational, revenge- and so-called familiar honor-driven vendettas in other parts of the world.
