Summary
Part of Us
After a difficult youth, Nadja has worked hard to build an independent life for herself and wants to leave her past behind. But when she unexpectedly encounters her mother Irene at her brother's wedding, old wounds are reopened: Irene is severely alcoholic, homeless, and mentally ill. While the rest of the family keeps their distance, Nadja feels compelled to help. She organizes medical care and accommodation, accompanies her mother to appointments, and tries to bring stability to her chaotic everyday life. But every attempt at rapprochement is accompanied by tension: Irene vacillates between gratitude, rejection, and reproach. Nadja finds herself increasingly caught between self-protection and a sense of responsibility.
