Summary

Based on the novel by Fred Andreas: Professor Hesse, who works as a head physician at a hospital, has grown tired of his boring life with his wife Irene and children Kai and Katja. To escape it, he stages a car accident in which he pretends to die. Declared dead, he wants to build a new life in the mountains with his secretary. However, this plan also proves unsatisfactory. When his son finally falls ill, he wants to return to his old life, but finds that his position at the hospital has long since been filled...
