Summary
The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo
In 1982, in a mountain village in the desert of northern Chile, a group of queer people have created a home for themselves. Amid daily chores and makeshift talent shows unfolds the life of 11-year-old Lidia, one of the community's adopted daughters. As a mysterious illness begins to spread through the household, Lidia finds herself confronted with the villagers' prejudice - rumours that the sickness is carried through the gaze shared between two men in love.
The film, winner of multiple awards including a prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, is Chile's official submission for the 2026 Oscars.
