Conamara

Conamara is the breathtaking and wild strip of countryside in the west of Galway County on Ireland′s Atlantic coast. Here, a landscape of lush green valleys and lakes gives way to rugged mountains and the stony gray moonscapes of cliffs with the sea beyond.

It′s been twelve years since Maria and Axel shared a brief romantic interlude in Amsterdam. Now Axel has turned up suddenly at Maria′s house in Ireland, sending her into panic. She never told her husband, Antaine, about her young German lover. Axel, for his part, wasn′t aware that Maria had a husband and child.
But Axel has burned all his bridges in Germany and is determined to make a new life for himself in Ireland.
With his quirky, upbeat demeanor, Axel quickly wins the sympathies of the villagers. Bit by bit, even Maria and Antaine are drawn into his schemes, and the three plunge headlong into fixing up an old amphibian vehicle to take thirsty tourists on pub-crawling tours. But beneath the surface of their carefree romp, the old attraction between Axel and Maria is re-surfacing.
Director Eoin Moore has drawn an affectionate and humorous portrait of Conamara and its residents. At the center of the story is a woman who must decide whether to gamble with the most important thing in her life - her family.
