Deutschland 1994 TV-Spielfilm

Summary

Flickering Roads

Flickering Roads tells the story of three young people in Germany who have one thing in common: they are homeless, each in their own way. Eleven-year old Gena from Rumania, whose parents have been deported, meets up with the teenager Micka as they both try to steal the same car.
They have an argument about whose car this really is. They are surprised in the process by the police and have to escape together. Micka, a sensitive hooligan, accompanies Gena as he looks for his brother who is somewhere in East Germany. At a motorway services area they meet the young waitress and petty thief Phillipa who loses her job and flat when the two boys try to cheat her. They travel as a threesome through Germany, without any money and a succession of stolen cars, looking for Gena′s brother whom they will never find. The common odyssey leads them, in the end, to the unspoken realisation they have found something akin to a home within each other. They continue their journey into the unknown.
