A Useful Ghost

Summary

Widower March works in the family business, a small factory that manufactures household appliances. When an accident on the production line triggers a series of unexplained events, ghosts begin to make their presence known in the factory. For March, the supernatural suddenly becomes personal: his late wife Nat, who died from the effects of severe air pollution, returns as a spirit - and takes possession of a vacuum cleaner produced in the factory. An unusual, simultaneously tender and absurd relationship develops between March and the device inhabited by Nat, a situation met with incomprehension by his conservative family. As March tries to maintain his connection with Nat, further spiritual disturbances multiply throughout the factory. Determined to be "useful," Nat offers to help exorcise the restless spirits - even if it means confronting the darker sides of a society in which even the deceased must prove their worth.
