Waltz with Bashir

Israel Frankreich Deutschland 2007/2008 Dokumentarfilm

Summary

Being the first feature-length animated documentary, "Waltz with Bashir" is the account of director Ari Folman′s journey into his own past. Inspired by an old friend who is still traumatized by his experiences as an IDF soldier in the first Lebanon war, Folman tries to process his own recollections of that time – which turns out to be hard, since he somehow suppressed all thoughts about his front service. He visits old friends and comrades, hoping to upstart his dormant memory. The further he dwells into his own history, the more viciously the past suddenly resurfaces and haunts him in the form of surreal images.
