Jonas Holdenrieder was born in Munich on November 26, 1999. In 2010, he took part in an audition for the TV drama "Für immer Frühling" and was cast in a leading role as the son of a cancer patient who develops a special relationship with a nurse (Simone Thomalla). He gained greater notoriety for his role in the feature film "Die Vampirschwestern" ("Vampire Sisters", 2012), in which he played the best friend of the title heroines. Holdenrieder had his first leading role in a feature film in Alain Gsponer's children's book adaptation "Das kleine Gespenst" ("The Little Ghost", 2013), as the best friend of the little ghost. In the same year, he was part of the ensemble of "Fack Ju Göhte" ("Suck Me Shakespeer", 2013) in a smaller role.

For "Die Vampirschwestern 2" ("Vampire Sisters 2", 2014) and " Die Vampirschwestern 3" ("Vampire Sisters 3 - Journey to Transylvania", 2016), he reprised the role of best friend Ludo. In the medium-length "Mein rechter, rechter Platz ist frei..." (2017), about the aftermath of a school shooting, he played a new classmate whose happy-go-lucky attitude is not appreciated by all. From 2016, Holdenrieder took on a leading role as the son of Stefan Murr's main character in the TV series "Marie fängt Feuer."

Michael Herbig cast him in his feature film "Ballon" ("Balloon", 2018) as the son of the Strelzyk family, who fled the GDR in a hot air balloon in 1979. On television, Holdenrieder took on guest roles in various series and serials, such as "Um Himmels Willen" (2020) and "Nord Nord Mord" (2021).

After a minor cinema role in "Gott, du kannst ein Arsch sein!" ("God You're Such a Prick!", 2020), he played a leading role in the thriller "Trübe Wolken" ("Cloudy Clouds", 2020), as an introverted and mysterious outsider who exerts a momentous fascination on a fellow student and a teacher. At the 2021 Max Ophüls Preis film festival, he was awarded Best Young Actor for this performance.
