Biography

Jeanne Balibar was born in Paris on April 13 1988. She started out as a student of history, but then switched to acting classes and completed her training at the renowned Conservatoire national supérieur d"art dramatique in Paris. Following several theatre engagements, she made her screen debut in 1992 in Arnaud Desplechin"s "La Sentinelle". She went on to work with many prominent directors, including Olivier Assayas ("Ende August, Anfang September", 1998), Jacques Rivette ("Va Savoir", 2001; "Die Herzogin von Langeais", 2007) and Michael Winterbottom ("Code 46", 2003).

Balibar has been nominated four times for the prestigious French film wward César: In 1997 for "Ich und meine Liebe", in1998 for "J"ai horreur de l"amour", in 2001 for "Ça ira mieux demain" and in 2009 for her portrayal of Peggy Roche in "Bonjour Sagan". In 2010, she played the titular character in the German production "Im Alter von Ellen", directed by Pia Marais. Alongside her acting career, Jeanne Balibar has already released two albums as a singer: "Paramour" (2003) and "Slalom Dame" (2006).
