Biography

Born on 18 December 1991 in Herford, Germany, Tijan Karim Njie was raised by a single mother from Tunisia and claims to have no contact with his Gambian father. Although he played football successfully as a student, his career goal was to become an actor. He gained his first stage experience while still at school, portraying Bruce Darnell, of Germany's Next Topmodel fame, in a variety show at his high school. After graduating, Njie attended the Film Acting School Cologne from 2013 to 2015, while also taking part in several workshops, including camera acting. During this time, he also appeared in various theatre productions.

After graduating in 2016, Tijan Njie landed his first supporting role in the crime series "Soko München". This was followed by a leading role in an episode of "Soko Köln" as well as appearances in several commercials, including one for the talent show "Deutschland sucht den Superstar". He also played guest roles in TV series such as "Sankt Maik" (2017) and the TV movie "Billy Kuckuck - Margot muss bleiben!" (2018). From 2018 to 2021, he had a recurring supporting role in the daily soap "Alles was zählt" as Moritz "Mo" Brunner. In 2020, he took part in the 13th season of the TV show "Let's Dance" and secured the fourth place with his dance partner Kathrin Menzinger.

In 2021, Tijan Njie landed a starring role in Simon Verhoeven's film "Girl You Know It's True", a comedy about the rise and fall of pop duo Milli Vanilli in the late 1980s. He portrayed one half of the duo, Rob Pilatus, who died in 1998. The film was released in late 2023.
