Hairdresser Hans Anton Schatz who is getting a bit long in the tooth is still living with his mother and is working in a small-town salon right around the corner. Schatz is worshipping the florist Melanie who is engaged to a Ruhr area chav, though. Shortly before her wedding, Melanie panicks and persuades Hans Anton to go with her on a bus trip to Berlin. In the big city, Hans Anton livens up. He falls in love with an outgoing TV host and even follows her into her show.
