Lubitsch Junior

BR Deutschland 1990 TV-Spielfilm

Summary

During their research on the front-line theatre in the Second World War, a group of film-makers meets an old man who not only claims to be the son of Ernst Lubitsch, but also claims to have written the screenplay for "To be or not to be". The contemporary witness turns out to be a goldmine of anecdotes and insider information about the resistance in the Third Reich. But slowly the filmmakers begin to doubt the veracity of his statements and his identity. Could it be that he was actually on the side of the Nazis and now stages himself as a resistance fighter and victim? The group makes the plan to travel with him to Warsaw.
