Summary
The parents of 9-year-old Florian want to get divorced. They break this news to him during a last shared Baltic Sea holiday. Florian feels heartbroken and keeps wishing that his parents would take a chance on a fresh start, even though his mother has already introduced her new boyfriend, nicknamed “Fatty”. Since Fatty might steal his mother’s love from him, Florian eyes him suspiciously and fights him wherever possible. During all their tussles, however, Fatty always acts fair, and Florian cannot help but be impressed. Nevertheless, his mother cannot stand the situation. In order to restore peace in the family, she decides to break up with her new boyfriend. Florian senses how much she suffers, and finally realizes that he is not allowed to stand in the way of her happiness. The three of them move into a new apartment and try to make a fresh start.
