Born in Karl-Marx-Stadt (now Chemnitz) in 1982. He is the son of actor Ulrich Mühe and dramaturge Annegret Hahn. He dropped his studies in painting at Burg Giebichenstein Art College in Halle in order to attend the University of the Arts in Berlin where he studied art under Lothar Baumgarten.
