Aljoscha Weskott was born in Marburg an der Lahn on July 14, 1974 and has lived in Berlin as a freelance author and filmmaker since 1997. After completing his studies in political science and cultural studies, he was a guest auditor at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin in 2004/05. He is a co-publisher of the periodical "Fraktur - Gespräche über Erinnerung in der Berliner Republik" (2007) and "Sun Tropes: Sun City and (Post)-Apartheid Culture in South Africa", which appeared in 2009. "Sunny Land" is his first feature film.
