Startfieber

The three athletes Holger, Jens, and Ralf are fighting in the Nordic combined for a place in the junior national team. What has begun as fruitful team work in the children and youth sport schools, develops into a strong rivalry among the young men. Each of them excels at only one of the sports – Jens is a brilliant cross-country skier, but a bad ski jumper, and with Holger it is the other way around – thus, they need each other, yet they still fight against each other. Ralf deeply fears the ski jumping competition, and has to give up early after a fall. But the young men not only compete in sports, but also in love, when all three of them fall in love with the same girl. The relationship of the three friends is put to a hard test when Jens is supposed to support Holger, who leads after the ski jump, but then decides against the team spirit. When Holger loses the race and has to go home frustrated, Jens realizes his mistake and encourages Holger to continue. In the end, both athletes emerge from the competition as winners.
