Maximilian Haslberger, born in Minneapolis, USA in 1984, studied at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg between 2007 and 2013. In 2010 he founded the “Amerikafilm” production company, leading to the German-Brazilian co-production "Brasa" by Sebastian Mez and the German-Egyptian co-production "Balaghany Ayyoha al Malek al Sa'eed" by Mohammad Shawky Hassan in 2011. "Die Menschenliebe" premiered at Visions du Réel in 2014 and won the First Steps Award for Best Documentary.
