After completing a degree in economics, York-Fabian Raabe studied at the dffb in Berlin. For his films which are mostly set in an African context he won various awards including the Max Ophüls Prize: Best Short Film in 2011 for "Zwischen Himmel und Erde". "Borga" is his feature film debut.
