Born in Novi Sad in Serbia in 1942, he began making documentaries in former Yugoslavia at the end of the 1960s. His extensive filmography includes over forty features and documentaries, most of which focus on socio-political topics. He was a guest of the Berlinale in 1969, 1995 and 2002.
