Nuran David Calis was born in Bielefeld in 1976, the son of Jewish Armenian immigrants from Turkey. He studied Directing at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich. His films include: "Meine Mutter, mein Bruder und ich" (2008), "Frühlings Erwachen"(2009), "Woyzeck" (2013), and "Revolution Now!"(2014).
