Ileana Cosmovici grew up in southern Italy and studied Italian, theatre studies, art history and German language and literature in Munich from 1990-93. In 1993 she took up documentary filmmaking and television journalism at the Munich College of Film and Television. "Aschermittwoch" is her graduation film.
