Biography

Agata Buzek was born September 20, 1976, in Pyskowice in Poland as the daughter of Jerzy Buzek, who later became the Polish Prime Minister from 1997 to 2001. She attended the Aleksander Zelwerowicz theatre academy in Warsaw and successfully graduated from drama school in 1999. Since then, Buzek has been working with some of the most famous Polish filmmakers, such as Jerzy Wójcik, Krzysztof Zanussi, and Andrej Wajda, in whose allegorical farce "Zemsta" (The Revenge) Buzek starred alongside Roman Polanski and was nominated for the 2002 Polish film award as "Best supporting actress".

In the same year, Buzek appeared in a minor role in the episode "Verraten und verkauft" of the German TV series "Doppelter Einsatz" as well as in the TV movie "Das letzte Versteck" about the fate of a Jewish family in Nazi Germany. In 2007, Agata Buzek made her debut in a German feature film in the title role of the psychological drama "Valerie".
